Welcome to all.

The season of Lent prepares the Church for the celebration of the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. In the Early Church the baptism of new Christians was always held on Easter Day, and the season of Lent began as a period of instruction and preparation for all who were to be baptised at Easter.

Our marking of lent is a reminder of the forty days that Jesus spent in the wilderness after his baptism in preparation for his ministry.

The theme of the first Sunday in Lent is the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness, and this is illustrative of the discipline and self-control required of the Christian.

The fourth Sunday of Lent is observed as Mothering Sunday.

The fifth Sunday of Lent marks the beginning of Passiontide, with the focus on the culmination of Jesus' ministry in Jerusalem, leading to Palm Sunday and the events of Passion Week.

We, as a parish have something to look forward to with the imminent arrival of Joss, Mim and Luna their cat in the parish. Joss will becoming Priest in Charge of Fawkham and Hartley and of Longfield.

Sadly, this time is also a time bad news with the shock of John Waller's sudden death. John was our much loved Churchwarden of Fawkham and Hartley. We are going to miss him so much. He was a wonderfaul servant for the parish and a great example of a faithful servant of Christ. Please pray for John's wife Lynne and their family as they move forward to John's funeral at All Saints' Church on Tuesday 5th March.
